EDUCATION
total system overhaul
The British built our education system to produce servants loyal to the West. It worked, and it's still working today. Just look at our elite families grovelling for the approval of the Britisher. Look at the leaders of both sides of parliament, Ranil and Sajith, trying ever so hard to speak like Churchill. Schools are the battleground to break free from British rule.

The new education system will serve Sri Lanka by creating men and women of character. Where wealth and power are no longer the goal. Where love of Mother Lanka is reinforced day after day, year after year.

There will be a radical overhaul of the education sector targeting school principals, teachers, students, teaching methods, standards, curriculum, and facilities.
Overhaul The System
Britishers
Students will not fear the headmaster. They will not blindly obey every order. We will dismantle this British method of teaching which gave rise to millions of Sri Lankans who did nothing to stop the corrupt politicians and business leaders. The education system will produce men and women of character who stand up against injustice
School Principals
Old fashioned principals who refuse to adapt to modern standards will be forced into early retirement
Teachers
Teachers will be trained to not only teach the curriculum but also to inspire and guide their pupils. The master-slave relationship between teacher and student will be replaced with a mentoring approach
Crime and Punishment
Students are not criminals. Schools are not prisons. The culture of education will change to nurturing young minds. The heavy handed model of British schooling will be replaced by a gentle Asian approach. Breaches of school uniform, being late to school, not submitting homework on time, and so on will not be dealt with punishment, instead, teachers will use dialogue, understanding, and patience to get the best out of students
Thinkers
For generations our students were taught to follow orders. This created millions of sheep who did nothing over the past 70 years to stop the destruction of our country by politicians, police, army, government servants, and business executives. The new education system will generate citizens of character who stand up for themselves, their friends, their community, and their country
Values
The purpose of education is character. The curriculum for K-12 will teach the very principles missing from our politicians, business executives, and high society. Such virtues as honesty, integrity, transparency, fairness, equality, accountability, respect, kindness, and patriotism will be baked into the curiculum
Families dream of sending their children to the top Colombo schools. They want their children to have the same opportunities as kids of the rich and powerful. But placements are limited, making it impossible for a poor rural family to send their child to the likes of Royal College, CIS, and Visaka.

It's time to democratise access to education by cloning the top Colombo schools to all parts of the island. We will open multiple campuses of each top Colombo school to 5x their intake, giving poor rural
boys and girls the same education and career opportunities enjoyed by the children of high society Colombo families
Access To Best Schools
Expansion
The top schools will open new campuses around the country, located within easy reach of the freeways that stretch right around the island. For example, Royal College will have 5 brand new campuses in addition to the Colombo 7 campus
Equality
To ensure all new campuses are equal in reputation, the principles and teachers of all campuses will be rotated around each of the campuses. Some on weekly rotations, others on 12 month relocations. This will ensure a student from Royal Jaffna campus, or Royal Galle campus, gets the same education as a student from Colombo campus, and over time, employers will not care about which campus a student attended
50,000 More Students
With 50,000 additional student places for the top schools, parents will no longer torture young children with hours of tuition for scholarship exams. Families will no longer spend hours in traffic, and Colombo will see a sizeable reduction in school vans and buses
Rising Tide
All schools will improve through access to modern technology for teacher training, student access to online learning, a fun based culture, and a cut-down syllabus to reduce the workload for teachers and students
Virtual Classrooms
Zoom classes will make multi-campus lectures a regular feature. The best teachers will conduct classes island-wide, with thousands of students watching and participating. By adopting modern technology and lessons learned from remote learning during the covid pandemic, we can provide all students access to the best learning methods and content
Online Learning
The best teachers in Sri Lanka will have their lectures recorded and available online for viewing at home by any student from any school. Students from small rural schools can now learn from teachers working at Royal, CIS, Visaka, and any other school offering great online content
Universities will expand their intake by integrating online education into their courses. The placements available will reflect the economic demand for knowledge workers in fields such as medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, law, commerce, science, engineering, and information technology, so that graduates have a reasonable chance of being employed when they leave university.
Tertiary Education
Align To Economy
Placements offered for each course will be increased to meet the short and medium term economic demand for professions and industries. The number of graduates must meet the needs of society especially for doctors or engineers
Real Skills
Courses will include opportunities to acquire the practical and soft skills required for graduates to work in their field. Lecturers will undergo training to bring them up to speed with best practice in their area of expertise
Better Teachers
Lecturers have grown old and outdated. They will undergo training to learn best practice in their field. Sri Lanka willl produce brilliant graduates with both academic knowledge and real world skills
Embrace Online
We will embrace online learning to expand student numbers where classroom space is limited. Thousands of students can attend a single lecture, allowing enrollments to increase without capital spending on new buildings
Private Universities
Where universities cannot produce the required number of graduates to meet economic demand, private universities will be allowed to fill the gap. Graduates from private institutions must be of the same quality and capability as graduates from public universities
Ragging
Ragging is a crime and zero tolerance will be shown for thugs who assault new students. Plain clothed police will be on campus to protect first year students. Ring leaders will be given 3 month prison terms and expelled from all universities for 2 years. This is a vital step in changing Sri Lanka's culture by rejecting thugs and bullies
Technical training institutions will be expanded to intake an extra 250,000 youth who are unemployed or driving three wheelers, who on completion will get jobs because the economy has a drastic shortage of skilled trades such as carpenters, plumbers, electricians, tilers, painters, welders, motor mechanics, nurses, and aged care workers
Technical Workers

Wasted Youth
A million youth are unemployed or driving three wheelers or doing unskilled manual jobs. They are facing a lifetime of poverty. Their self esteem is low, they have mental health issues, many get into drugs and crime. They are unhappy and there is no light at the end of the tunnel
Economy
The economy cannot grow because there are not enough skilled workers. Industries are well behind other nations. Sri Lanka is missing out on securing overseas contracts due to shortages in skilled labour
Capacity
We will increase capacity by expanding the intake to technical training organisations. This means upgrading facilities to train more students. It is a catch 22 where more skilled workers produces more economic growth, and more economic growth enables us to train more skilled workers. The flywheel takes enormous energy to start turning but turn we must
